Shahindran Moonieya (A Board member of OIA) has kindly facilitated the use of the Con Hill venue - Joe Slovo Courtyard and Conference Room for the use of OIA. We are inviting all the Gauteng JWG organisations, and their members to take part. There is no charge to any of the organisations or their members. I would, at the very least, be able to say that all these organisations will be represented, that they will be 'displaying their wares' (which may also be for sale). We also plan to have some live performances, a braai at lunch time, and then a Report Back / Panel Discussion on the state of the Civil Union bill. Invited speakers are David Bilchitz, Fikile Vilakazi and Melanie Judge. I was also thinking of appraoching Jacana Books - they have numerous gay & lesbian titles. All orgs will have tables. Con Hill will put up a marquee in the Courtyard, so we should all have shade. Some short South African films will be projected. We plan to put out chairs and umbrellas where people can sit once they have cooked their food. We intend to provide a number of braais so that people can cook their own meat, there will be salads provided. OIA will provide 200 braai packs (heavily subsidised, probably a chop, a piece of steak and a stukkie wors for R5). There will be cool drinks for sale (unless sponsored). There will be some light largers and ciders, but these will be for sale. After that is the Civil Union discussion. > 10am - tables on display through out the day > 11am - live performances > 12 midday - braai > 1.30pm - Civil Union report back > 3pm - event ends.
